Poor Velvet looks like a fat girl in a little coat! hehe.. I love her dark brown ears. Velvet is the prettiest brownie I have ever seen! Are the puppies going to be brown and black?

…amazing that you know they will all be black. I know it’s just genetic fact-but-how cool that you are that knowledgable!!!

My girl, Bella, out of Absolute (Teddy/Rose) looks a lot like Velvet.

the way the color genes work is that black is dominant – only takes one parent to be/carry black to get black. All other colors need both parents to carry those color genes. Velvet, I know is brown only. Would produce brown if bred to boy who is or carries brown. Produces black when bred to boy who doesn’t carry brown. And she cannot produce any other color no matter what colors the boy carries such as with her first breeding – he carried white. So both her first and now the same with the second litter will be black only. Maybe her third I can find a really good boy with brown. If not, I will certainly be looking for browns from her offspring when bred!!!

that is cool-I remember being so interested in punnant squares in biology–my husband and I figured our kids’ hair and eye color when we were engaged!!!! Our of 4 children-we had two with red hair and blue eyes–like my husband–one with blond hair/green eyes, and one with brown eyes/brown hair like me!
