Update

June 28th, 2009

I was so bummed about Mufasa that I couldn’t post anything new for awhile but I’ll fix that right now.  I have some good things going on too and must always remember that — always have good things going on with my wonderful, darling poodles.  So, here are some pictures of a new litter that I just brought here.  I co-own this litter with a friend who whelped the litter at her house.  The momma is Diva and the poppa is Marco.  Its their second litter together and quite beautiful — all are spoken for already — actually when born — or I might have kept one of the brownies.  Lynn is keeping the black girl, each brown girl is  going to a couple who already have one of my puppies (now grown dogs), the white male is going to a lovely family I recently met and the white girl is going to a couple who’ve had two dogs from Lynn in the past. Diva may stay with me from now on so I’ll look forward to another litter from her, possibly sired by Marco again because these are really pretty.  (I know, I say that about all of my puppies, but they are!!!)  And I’ve also posted below a couple of cute pictures I just got of Mojo and Ruby — two very photogenic babies of mine living in PA with Nan and John  — Nan takes great pictures so when I saw these, I said OK, got to post them to my blog. Mojo is a Tiara/Luca son; Ruby is an Annie/Luca daughter, littermate to my Marco.  Nan also sent me a picture of her beloved Lhaso Apso, Nick who just she just lost - so in tribute to Nick, I’ve posted his picture here too – in a crate in this picture because of an injury, he sure was a cutie — farewell Nick.

Mufasa

June 6th, 2009

Well, I have very bad, sad news.  My Mufasa died tonight.  Once again, I’m sitting here stunned at how things evolved this evening.  Mufasa came out of my mother’s room stumbling and collapsed in the hallway.  I rushed him to the ER vet thinking he was bloating but it was even worse.  He was bleeding internally so I had the vet open him up to see if he could find out why and he did.   Mufasa was bleeding from multiple sites in both his spleen and his liver.  So, most likely cancer which was coming on but tonight began bleeding.  He went into shock and of course we lost him.  Mufasa was my first champion and my most darling boy - ten years old.  I seem to be having some bad luck lately — still not over losing my Trudee and I lost Tiara last august to bloat and now this.   My mother is terribly upset too — he was very much her baby boy since she moved in here.  I thought my next loss would be Lulu, his mother who is now over twelve and having a liver issue which she’s had for years after a bad case of mastitis.  So, I’ve been worried about her, never thinking I was going to lose her son.  Ironic, both her boys that made up her frst ltter are now gone — Simbe died suddenly too after a severe reaction to rimydll about three months ago.  Geez, these things are so tough — I remember my baby boy — such a darling puppy — we used to dance together,,, he loved music and I’d pick him up when he was stilll little and dance around the living room.  Then, €so gorgeous, he went off to be shown — I showed him some and got some of his points but knew I had to let him go to a professional handler.  Kaz Hosaka, a top if not the top handler tookhim and would laugh — said he is so beautiful that sometimes he won’t move and still the judge points at him. Mufas didn’t like being pulled at all on lead - would turn to stone if you tugged him. Movement is a big deal in the ring but he’d win even when he didn’t move because he was just so beautiful - my first champion — I dreamed of him my whole life — my first was a brown girl that I of course adored but when I’d go to shows with her, I would see the big males enter the ring and loved the black ones and said, I have to have one of those — and finally when I retired, my lulu had him in her first litter.  Mufasa produced over 200 puppies bred to my own Tiara and several other breeder’s bitches.  All wonderful temperaments and personalities.  I kept two — my brown Annie and my black Spirit.  Annie had several pupies and I kept Marco and Spirits has had just a small number of puppies and I kept a girl born just last Christmastime and co-own the son from that same litter so I have Mufasa grandchildren too at least to console me and to carry on his great attributes — both beauty and temperaments.  My Mufada-boy.  Cannot believe I won’t see him twirling up on his hind legs or doing the “moon-walk” going backwards til he hit the wall or have him resting his head on my legs til they fall asleep.  I don’t want to sleep tonight, will just keep waking and crying.  my baby. anyone reading this with mufada children/grandchildren, give them a special hug.

Two Boys to See

May 16th, 2009

The black one is “Toby” - by CH Luminary Crystal Peridot and CH Obsidian Midnight Cowboy.  The brown one is “Nick” - by Luminary Infused With A Breeze and CH Greenwyn Ascot Lovestruck.  I wanted to keep these boys to show and breed but just couldn’t so I kept rights to collect/store their semen for future use.  I’m very glad I at least did that as they both turned out as pretty as I thought.  Toby was a singleton and has grown into quite a handsome boy and rather bigger than I’d suspected — he is a full 26 inches at the withers and about 52 lbs.  I liked him so well that I bred to his daddy again with Spirit who produced two black puppies the day after last Christmas - Merry and Nico - both to be shown and bred.  Nick is a littermate to my Velvet who finished her championship last fall and is becoming a special dog while she matures.  He too has the same beautiful face and head that she got from her Gramma Annie although his is decidely more masculine, thank goodness.  But he is a balanced, full bodied boy and I’m quite happy with him.  Since I just collected and tested Dino too, this makes three in a month so my VISA bill will probably cause me to pass out!!!  But, its an investment for future puppies — can’t wait…

Velvet at the National Specialty

The Poodle Club of America show was last week. Velvet, my brown girl who finished her championship last fall at 9 months old, was shown in Best of Variety class.  She looked beautiful, I was so proud.

These photos were taken by Linda Wolf — thank you so much for sending these to me.

Pictures of Ordinary Doings

April 21st, 2009

Just some pictures of everyday life around here —      Lulu lounging — she just turned 12 years old!!! Trudee - can you find her in the picture?  She

s the one with the diaper — she’s in heat - LOL. Trudee again, in one of her favorite spots - watching us in the kitchen. Some boarders here recently - that’s Summer, the Belgiian Touvoreen playing with Baci (a Peri/Luca son. And Baci running with Storm — both knd of a blur as they raced around out back.  Storm is a Lil Lulu/Striker daughter, littermate to my newest champion, Dino.  And the latest addition,  Peri/Marco daughter, now 6 weeks and having a fun time jumping into the dishwasher,  romping in the kitchen and taking a break for a sip of water.  She’s something else — may have to keep her.  First of all she is quite gorgeous - beautiful face and head, short backed, great tailset, plenty of body, nice tight feet and lots of front.  And she has the most darling personality — she knows her name - Little Bit and comes running when I call her and as she comes to me, she throws her front legs forward and waves her paws at me. Makes me feel good - like she is so happy to see me.  She actually sits up on her haunches and puts her paws out towards me. And when I talk to her, she talks back as if having a conversation.    Too cute.

Annie is Not Pregnant — bummer.

Dino is a Champion!!!!!! At all of 10 months old!!!

April 8th, 2009

Dino finished his championship last weekend with a four point major on Friday and needing only one more point, got it on Saturday.  Very exciting — a new puppy champion — my fourth in a row, and my 13th champ — but who’s counting — LOL.  So, Mark we need a new page for him on the website please.  He will be shown one more time at PCA in puppy 9-12 mo because I will not have AKC confirmation on his championship yet.  I’ll bring him home from PCA and about a week or so later he departs with his new co-owner, my dear friend SheShe and her husband Duane to live with them in Chicago.  They are keeping him intact for me to breed and plan to take him into agility for fun.  I know he’ll do well with that too — he has two half-siblings with agility titles.  Waiting for his championship picture but you can see his pictures from previous wins on this blog.
