Still not done…

PJ has delivered 13 and because of the xray I know she has two more to go. As expected, we’ve lost some – five – sigh. 15 is just too many to develop properly. Anything over ten is common to lose some. But so far these are doing fine. PJ is sleeping but wish she would finish so I can!!!!

PJ is Starting

We will be busy probably starting later tonight. She is nesting and restless and doing some panting – the start of it all. She wouldn’t eat yesterday but today did when my sister offered her mcdonald’s fish fillet which PJ has never had before, but she wouldn’t eat the french fries which she usually loves. This evening she ate my chicken. But, this is funny – she only ate mine which was white meat. My mom offered her the dark meat she eats but PJ turned up she nose. We tried several times but she could tell the difference. too funny… Stay tuned…

PJ is carrying FIFTEEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, after her first litter being only 3 and then not conceiveing at all, PJ is now carrying 15 puppies. While you never know of course, usually you lose some with this size litter and on the x-ray a couple looked smaller than the others so those may be the ones. Then of course, maybe they will all survive and I’ll be helping PJ feed them all. Let’s hope so. Losing puppies no matter how many is not fun. I worry in any case but now will be especially on alert. Not that you can usually do much – they either make it or they don’t unless like with one from Merry’s first litter of eleven, one is just small but not anything else wrong and eventually catches up in size but needs a little help from her “gramma” while bitsy. Fifteen is a new record for me. I knew she looked big but never imagined this!!!! She is due this saturday but now could deliver any time so I am officially on puppy watch. I will get Merry’s x-ray on Friday. You don’t do the x-ray til under a week from due date and she is due next week, the 18th. She actually looks bigger than PJ – LOL. Just can’t second guess this stuff — one reason I bred them both is because PJ had only the three and then none so figured if she conceived she would have a small to medium litter. So much for that thought. But, I am never happier than when I have puppies – so I will certainly have a Merry Christmas as well as a busy one. So, stay tuned for Merry’s x-ray results and PJ’s whelping. Everyone send their prayers for PJ to do well… and as a side note send good thoughts for my girl Pearl showing in Florida and the Eukanuba National!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dino & Son

The first two pictures are Rafi; the next three are of his daddy, Dino. He is a PJ son sired by Dino about two years ago. He is quite gorgeous as is his littermate, Sir Henry, white male that is on my blog and on my facebook page often. I haven’t seen Rafi in quite awhile so was especially please to see that he has matured into quite a gorgeous boy too. I have been hoping for a female version of Sir Henry but failed in my attempts for PJ to have another litter sired by Dino. So, she is now pregnant with Mondo and of course those puppies will be quite gorgeous too. IF I SAY SO MYSELF – LOL… But, I think I shall not give up on another PJ/Dino litter after seeing Rafi here for a few days. Not only is he so beautiful but he is the most wonderful boy– just loving, sweet and a very good boy!@!!! Oh, and I had to include the picture of Dino napping along with his “daddy” Duane!!! very cute…

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PJ and Merry are both pregnant for sure. While I was pretty sure — I have been tricked before but the sonogram today confirmed it. Each are carrying 6 to 9 as best as the vet could see. The bigger the litter, the more difficult it is to get an accurate reading because the embryos start hiding each other. It take them for the sonogram to see if the are pregnant to begin with and if they are having a teeny litter or bigger. Once, the vet only saw one so the whole time the momma was gestating, I rubbed her belly for the little black girl that I wanted from that breeding but turns out she had two in there and the second born was my little girl — my Merry!!! So, I get the sonogram to confirm pregnancy mostly. I was quite ecstatic upon seeing all the little babies in both of them. I am kind of on puppy withdrawal not having had a litter in awhile. Everyone is saying wow you’ll have your hands full– well, that’s the way I like it and it is fairly short lived anyway. I may have to resort to some tagging system this time if they are all black though!!!!

Questo got another GCH point

He now is over half way there. Taking awhile because no majors. In fact two weeks ago, he sat out because there were no points at all in dogs. The weekend after that he went select all three days with one point each. Last weekend he went select for one point on Saturday but no standards showed at all on sunday – not sure why — the weather maybe with the hurrican coming in. But Adriano texted saying don’t come as handlers were dropping out. Glad to see him on Saturday though. He is one happy boy and maturing nicely. Really good body and dynamite rear, great coate and perfect size for me. He has a bigger face/head than bro Mondo but still quite nice. I may breed him to Merry and PJ next time as his carriage too is great. Here he is jumping like crazy in his expen. And yes those are his “pee booties” — he wee-wee’s on the back of his legs – yuck… but hopefully when cut into a pet trim, that will stop. He is so sweet though.

Yay – again!!!!!!!!

Merry and Mondo bred tonight. Mondo has been a busy boy this week. Merry came into heat shortly after PJ — it happens — and I didn’t want to skip either of them like I skipped Velvet since PJ has had two heats since her litter and Merry had one. And previously when I chose who to breed and who to skip, I got nothing so didn’t want to take that chance. Even with these two breedings I will not count my chicks before they’re hatched. I’ve had litters close together before, in fact once Peri delivered 11 with 8 surviving and the very next day Spirit had a c-section delivering three but one of her was stillborn – sigh. — anyway, I rotated Peri’s with Spirit to nurse and it worked out fine. But, Merry had 11 with all surviving — double yay — and she managed to nurse and take care of everyone. PJ had a small litter her first time delivering three but a few days later Diva had her litter but because of complications, I lost Diva –sigh and gave all her puppies to PJ who took them in and nursed and raised them all. Such good momma dogs. So, now we wait about a month to see if either is pregnant. But tonight, I relax. Here is a picture of my Merry when she was a baby…
